The Châteaux Clémentins: Bertrand de Got, born in Villandraut and elected Pope in 1305 under the name of Clement V, was behind the construction of the castles named the "Clémentins":
Villandraut, Budos, Fargues, Duras and above all, the Château de Roquetaillade (photo opposite) which is inhabited, fitted out and visited (restored in the 19th c. by Viollet le Duc).
 

The Château de Cazeneuve, 10 min. from the Domain in the direction of Préchac, home of the dukes of Albret from the 16th c. from the 16th c. onwards, became the fief of King Henri III of Navarre, future King Henry IV of France, in 1572. Today the domain of Cazeneuve is the property of the Sabran-Pontevès family, descendants of the Albret family.
In perfect condition, the Château de Cazeneuve is classified 2 stars in the Michelin Green guide. It makes a very interesting visit; the beautiful halls and reception rooms are used for receptions.

The Château de la Brède In the middle of a lake surrounded by beautiful greenery, this was a source of inspiration for Montesquieu.
The Collégiale d'Uzeste and the Bazas Cathedral (13th c.), are popular gems for lovers of old stonework and history.
All around King Kysmar's Domain, less than 20km away, are the towns of
Cadillac, Saint-Macaire, Bazas, Langon… a little further, 1 hour's drive away, is Aquitaine's biggest city, Bordeaux of course, city of art and history (photo opposite).

The forest of the Landes. A one-day circuit (120km) is advisable if you want to discover the calm, the delight, the fauna and the delicate aromas of this forest. Numerous walking trails as well as biking trails cross the Gascogne Regional Park.
